I learned not to be afraid to reach out when I needed help. The transition from high school to college was stressful at first, but having the love and support of everyone in MSC ALOT helped me so much. I learned that I’m never alone. I felt that Texas A&M was like a second home, but MSC ALOT was like a home within a home, a safe place where you can be yourself. Overall I think MSC ALOT is a great organization where you can not only grow as a person but a leader, and you get to do that with 100 other freshmen. We’re like a big family and I loved that so much.
My favorite memory from my time in ALOT would have to be the Big Leadership Trip. Not only did I get the opportunity to strengthen some friendships that I had made, but I also got to know ~a lot~ more people that I didn’t know personally before this trip. During BLT, I made new friendships, gained more leadership qualities, and made amazing memories that I’ll never forget :))
My favorite memory from MSC ALOT was freshman year when we got Bigs. My Bigs helped me so much with advice, support for school, and life while finding who I was and my place on campus. My Bigs and I still talk now. I’m going into my junior year of college and one of them already graduated. I think it’s amazing that we have stayed in contact for so long. They were also the reason I knew I wanted to be a Big. I wanted to give my littles the same memories and experience.
Being in MSC ALOT for the last 3 years has been an eye-opening experience. It’s exposed me to people from various backgrounds and taught me to take every experience on with an open mind. The people I’ve met and the experiences I’ve had have shaped me into the passionate, driven leader I am today!
MSC ALOT is one of those things that words cannot truly express because it is a feeling. It is a feeling of belonging, support, success, love, and appreciation. It allows you to accomplish things you never thought were possible. ALOT is rooted in leadership but is family in practice.
MSC ALOT has a special charisma that brought me closer to people that I never even imagined I would meet at Texas A&M. The diverse perspective of every individual within this organizations has made me more open-minded and love this university even more. Everyone has extreme dedication to their role in MSC ALOT, a strong support system from everyone, and unconditional love.
