Community Service
Community Service (CS) organizes various service projects throughout the year which all of ALOT participates in. Projects include: Trick or Treat for Canned Goods, Angel Tree, Relay for Life, Big Event, Replant, freshmen planned monthly service projects, volunteering opportunities at a local children’s shelter, recycling projects, service trips, safe driving projects, and a helping out children at a local after-school program.
CS has several very established, successful projects they put on throughout the year for ALOT and fellow Aggies such as Trick or Treat for canned goods, Angel Tree, Relay for Life, Big Event, Replant, and a local Reading Program that focuses on elementary level children. In addition, there are many innovative ideas that will be put into effect this year such as freshmen planned monthly service projects, volunteering opportunities at a local battered children’s shelter, working to promote better driving habits in our community, recycling projects on campus, a service trip to a battered children’s home and a big service trip at the end of first semester. There is a lot of room for freshmen input, planning, and leadership growth opportunities. Community Service is a very active committee with several projects, but at the same time maintains a social aspect with weekly dinners and planned socials and retreats. The Community Service sub-committee works hard to build friendships and make a difference in our community.
