Subcommittees

A Subcommittee (Sub-co) is the business aspect of ALOT. Sub-cos are made up of an Executive staff member (or two), several Group Leaders (GL), and many freshmen. It's where we work as a group to create and manage programs. There are 6 different sub-cos in ALOT:

Campus Outreach- organizes our Freshmen Advancing Leadership Conference (FALCon), organizes monthly socials for our ALOT More program, organizes our Traditions week, and puts on the Human Foosball tournament.

Community Service- organizes various projects throughout the year in which all of ALOT participates in. Past projects include: Trick or Treat for canned goods, Angel Tree, Relay for Life, Big Event, Habitat for Humanity's Shack-a-Thon, and a local Reading Program.

Committee Development- puts on social events for ALOT such as crush parties and monthly social meetings that take the place of a GCM. Committee Development is also in charge of the all-FLO back-to-school dance "FLO Down" and the all-male beauty pageant "Mr. FLO."

Internal Relations- this subcommittee plans our weekly curriculum for the freshmen – they have 5 monthly tenants that they use as topics and then coordinate speakers and activities for those topics. This year the topics included communication, professionalism, diversity, service, and integrity. They also plan and coordinate our all-committee overnight retreats each semester and plan the leadership activities for each retreat. This committee coordinates some of our internal operations such as our listserv, Facebook groups, committee directory, and committee apparel. This committee also hosts our Parent’s Weekend Reception and Annual Awards Ceremony.

Development (D-Luv)- organizes our Reunion Tailgate to reach out to past "Alotters". D-Luv also organizes money making events, raises funds from local business and finds other areas of fundraising. This committee also puts on the very successful FLO Formal, the last dance for the FLOs.

SLOT- this subcommittee plans all aspects of our annual leadership conference for high school students. We host approximately 200 high school juniors and seniors on campus for a weekend filled with speakers, small group discussions, and activities. This subcommittees plans and develops the curriculum, trains facilitators, raises money, coordinates all their own marketing to high schools, schedules all speakers (keynotes and breakout sessions), plans evening entertainment, and organizes logistics such as rooms, meals, and housing.
